Overview
Geography
Landlocked in the Lesser Caucasus Mountains, Armenia lies between Türkiye to the west and Azerbaijan. Armenia views itself as part of Europe, while its geopolitical classification can fall within Europe, the Middle East, or both.
Mountains shape the Armenian Highland, which has little forest land and fast-flowing rivers. Good soil occurs in the Aras River valley. Sevana Lich (Lake Sevan) is the largest lake in this mountain range. Small deposits of gold, copper, molybdenum, zinc, and bauxite occur in Armenia. Aragats Lerrnagagat' is Armenia's highest point. The Debed River is its lowest point.

Flag and symbols
Three equal horizontal bands form the flag: red at the top, followed by blue and orange. Red stands for the blood shed for liberty, blue for the Armenian skies and hope, and orange for the land and the courage of the workers who farm it. The national symbols are Mount Ararat, eagle, and lion.
