Geography
The Mekong River and Tonle Sap, Southeast Asia's largest freshwater lake, dominate a land of paddies and forests. Cambodia lies in Southeastern Asia, bordering the Gulf of Thailand between Thailand, Vietnam, and Laos.
Mostly low, flat plains extend across the country, with mountains in the southwest and north. A parliamentary constitutional monarchy governs Cambodia. Its legal system combines civil law influenced by the UN Transitional Authority in Cambodia with customary law, Communist legal theory, and common law.
